Thoughts for the Day - 17th December 2008 (Wednesday)

Delusion comes only to those who lose their bearings. Egoism is the greatest factor in making people forget the basic Truth. Once the ego dominates man, he slips from the ideal and precipitates himself from the top of the ladder in quick falls from step to step, down to the bottom. Egoism breeds schism, hatred and attachment.

Delusi hanya akan menghampiri mereka yang kehilangan kontrol (atas dirinya sendiri). Egoisme adalah faktor utama yang mengakibatkan orang-orang melupakan kebenaran hakiki. Selama ego masih mendominasi, maka yang bersangkutan sangat rentan untuk terjatuh dalam perjalanan spiritualnya. Egoisme menimbulkan fanatisme, kebencian dan kemelekatan.

Thoughts for the Day - 6th August 2008 (Wednesday)

Whoever subdues his egoism, conquers his selfish desires, destroys his baser feelings and impulses and gives up the natural tendency to regard the body as the self, he is surely on the path of Dharma (righteousness). The goal of Dharma is the merging of the wave in the ocean, the merging of the self in the Higher self.

Siapapun juga yang berhasil mengatasi (menekan) egoismenya, maka itu berarti ia sudah berhasil mengatasi keinginan-keinginannya yang selfish (yang mementingkan diri sendiri), ia sudah menghancurkan perasaan serta dorongan batin (yang salah) yang menganggap seolah-olah badan jasmani ini sebagai diri (self). Dengan perkataan lain, ia sudah berada di jalan Dharma (kebenaran). Tujuan utama Dharma adalah untuk menyatukan kembali gelombang dengan samudera, yaitu penyatuan (merging) diri masing-masing (Atma) kepada Higher Self (Paramatma).
