Thoughts for the Day - 18th July 2008 (Friday/Guru Poornima)

'Gu' means darkness and 'Ru' means light. Guru (spiritual preceptor) scatters darkness through light; he imparts wisdom which roots out our ignorance. 'Gu' also connotes 'Gunaatheetha' (One who is beyond 'gunas' or attributes) and 'Ru' connotes 'Roopavarjitha' (One who has transcended Form). Do not seek human Gurus, however great their reputation. They are bound by the qualities they have developed and they are still in need of the Form so that they may conceive of Reality. They themselves being limited, how can they communicate to you the Unlimited? Pray to the Parabrahma Principle (transcendental principle) or God within you to reveal Itself. Accept that as the Guru and you will be illumined.

'Gu' artinya kegelapan dan 'Ru' diartikan sebagai cahaya/lentera. Guru (pembimbing spiritual) mengusir kegelapan melalui lentera cahaya-Nya; ia menanamkan kebijaksanaan yang akan mencabut akar-akar kegelapan batin kita. 'Gu' juga diasosiasikan dengan istilah 'Gunaatheetha' (Ia yang tak terpengaruh oleh 'guna' atau atribut-atribut) dan 'Ru' dikonotasikan dengan istilah 'Roopavarjitha' (Ia yang tidak terikat oleh wujud/rupa). Janganlah mencari human Gurus (guru-guru sesama manusia), walaupun mungkin mereka mempunyai reputasi yang sangat hebat. Sebab human gurus masih terikat dengan kualitas yang telah dimilikinya dan mereka masih membutuhkan wujud/rupa agar dapat memahami Realitas (absolut). Apabila para guru itu masih serba terbatas, maka bagaimanalah mungkin mereka bisa mengajarkanmu tentang sesuatu yang Unlimited? Berdoalah kepada prinsip Parabrahma (prinsip transcendental) atau Divinity yang ada di dalam dirimu sendiri agar Beliau menampakkan diri-Nya. Terimalah Ia sebagai Guru-mu, maka engkau akan mencapai pencerahan.

Thoughts for the Day - 15th March 2008 (Saturday)

When you see a plane flying in the sky, would you refuse to believe that it is flown by a pilot, just because you do not see him from where you are? You must go into the plane to see the pilot; you cannot deny his existence, standing on the ground below. You have to guess that the plane must have a pilot. So too seeing the Universe, you have to guess the existence of God, not deny Him because you are not able to see him. To see your own eyes, you need a mirror; to see yourself in your native spiritual grandeur, you need a Guru (preceptor).

Ketika engkau melihat sebuah kapal terbang melintas di angkasa, apakah hanya oleh karena engkau tidak melihat sang pilot, lalu engkau menolak untuk percaya bahwa kapal itu sedang dikemudi olehnya? Engkau harus masuk ke dalam pesawat itu barulah engkau bisa melihat pilotnya; engkau tidak bisa mengingkari eksistensinya selama engkau masih berdiri di daratan. Demikian pula dalam kaitannya dengan alam semesta, engkau tidak bisa mengingkari eksistensi Tuhan hanya oleh karena engkau tidak melihat-Nya. Agar engkau dapat melihat dirimu sendiri, maka engkau membutuhkan sebuah kaca/cermin; demikianlah, agar engkau dapat melihat jati-dirimu yang sebenarnya (Atma), maka engkau membutuhkan bantuan seorang Guru.
