There is an inevitable pair of accessories in vanity bags of ladies and in the pockets of gentlemen: mirror and a comb. You dread that your charm is endangered when your hair is in slight disarray, or when your face reveals patches of powder; so, you try to correct the impression immediately! While you are so concerned about this fast-deteriorating personal charm, how much more concerned should you really be about the dust of envy and hate, and patches of conceit and malice, that desecrate your mind and hearts? Have a mirror and comb for this purpose too! Have the mirror of devotion (Bhakti), to judge whether they are clean, bright and smart. Have also the comb of Jnana or wisdom, the wisdom earned by discrimination that straightens problems, resolves knots, and smoothens tangles to control and channelise feelings and emotions that are scattered wildly in all directions.
Ada sepasang aksesoris yang tak terelakkan di tas rias wanita dan di saku pria: cermin dan sisir. Engkau takut pesonamu terancam ketika rambutmu sedikit berantakan, atau ketika wajahmu menampilkan bedak yang berantakan; jadi, engkau mencoba untuk segera memperbaiki penampilan! Sementara engkau begitu khawatir tentang pesona pribadi yang memburuk dengan cepat ini, seberapa besar engkau benar-benar peduli dengan debu kecemburuan dan kebencian, dan potongan-potongan kesombongan dan kedengkian, yang menodai pikiran dan hatimu? Milikilah cermin dan sisir untuk tujuan ini juga! Miliki cermin pengabdian (Bhakti), untuk menilai apakah mereka bersih, cerah, dan cerdas. Miliki juga sisir Jnana atau kebijaksanaan, kebijaksanaan yang diperoleh dari kemampuan membedakan yang meluruskan masalah, menyelesaikan simpul, dan menghaluskan kusut untuk mengendalikan dan menyalurkan perasaan dan emosi yang berserakan liar ke segala arah.
