Thought for the Day - 9th June 2021 (Wednesday)

Devotion and faith must be cultivated by every student. Be as devoted and disciplined as Arjuna. Be as intelligent and strong as Bheema. Be steadfast and sincere like Dharmaraja. Then, no harm can come to you; you will achieve victory in all your efforts. There are four F's that you will have to fix before your attention: (1) Follow the Master (2) Face the Devil (3) Fight to the End and (4) Finish at the Goal. ‘Follow the Master’ means, observe Dharma. ‘Face the Devil’ means, overcome the temptations that beset you when you try to earn artha (wealth or the wherewithal to live in comfort). ‘Fight to the End’ means, struggle ceaselessly; wage war against the six enemies that are led by kama (lust). And finally, ‘Finish at the Goal' means, do not stop until the goal of Moksha (liberation from ignorance and delusion) Is reached. The F's are fundamental for the pursuits of the four Purusharthas - Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. 

Bhakti dan keyakinan harus ditingkatkan oleh setiap pelajar. Jadilah berbhakti dan disiplin seperti halnya Arjuna. Jadilah cerdas dan kuat seperti halnya Bima. Jadilah teguh dan tulus seperti halnya Dharmaraja. Kemudian, tidak akan ada bahaya yang bisa mendatangimu; engkau akan mencapai keberhasilan dalam semua usahamu. Ada empat jenis ‘F' yang harus engkau tetapkan menjadi fokusmu: (1) Follow the Master – ikuti Master (2) Face the Devil – Hadapi iblis (3) Fight to the End –Berjuang sampai akhir dan (4) Finish at the Goal – Mencapai tujuan. ‘Ikuti Master’ – berarti, menjalankan Dharma. ‘Hadapi iblis’ berarti, mengatasi godaan yang menimpamu ketika engkau mencoba untuk mendapatkan artha (kekayaan atau peralatan yang diperlukan untuk hidup dengan nyaman). ‘Berjuang sampai akhir’ berarti, berusaha dengan tanpa henti; menjalankan perang melawan enam musuh yang dituntun oleh kama (nafsu). Dan pada akhirnya, ‘Mencapai tujuan' berarti, jangan berhenti sampai mencapai tujuan Moksha (kebebasan dari kebodohan dan khayalan). Keempat bagian ini adalah bersifat fundamental untuk mendapatkan empat Purushartha - Dharma, Artha, Kama, dan Moksha. (Divine Discourse, Jul 06, 1975)
